PROJECTOR USE:

For best results, the projector should be turned on before you boot your laptop.

The projector's native screen resolution is 1024X768. You will get the best viewing results if your computer is set to the same resolution. The projector can emulate other modes, but results will vary.

When you are finished with your presentation please follow the shutdown instructions on the projector.

Press the power button twice. and Wait for the amber light. Not waiting can significantly reduce the life of the projector bulbs, which cost around $500.00 each.

The source button on the projector changes the input, Computer and Video are the input sources.

if the projected image is distorted, trapezoidal in shape, the keystone button can correct the display for most viewing angles.

Most laptops have multiple viewing modes, change modes on most Dells use the Fn+F8 key. This will toggle the display from LCD panel only, to Projector only, and to Projector and Panel. Switching modes can take as long as 30 seconds. Most other modern laptops have similar key combinations.

If you are having problems with projection and you have tried changing modes on the projector and on your laptop with no success, try rebooting the laptop. If the situation is still not remedied the main office should be able to reach one of the technical staff.

LAPTOP USE:

The department laptops should automatically boot to a desktop. If you see a login screen when booting the machine try and restart.

Please make sure that the laptop is turned off when you are finished with it, a sleeping laptop will generate heat, and use battery power.

If there is a problem with any of the software on the machine please contact tech@psych or let the front office know so they can contact us.
