The process of applying for admission to the PhD program in Psychology is described
on this page. Please read all instructions carefully. All application materials must arrive
by December 1st to receive complete consideration for admission to the program the following
September.
- How to Apply

Each step in the application process is outlined below. The title of each section will
contain a link to the associated form if one exists. Some application materials must be
sent directly to the University of Oregon Office of Admissions, and other materials must
be sent to the Department of Psychology. Materials sent to the wrong location may not be
processed in a timely fashion. The appropriate office must receive all
application materials and supporting documents before the December 1st deadline.

- University Wide Online Graduate Admission Application

The Graduate Admission Application Form may be filled out by navigating to the Online
Graduate Admission Application page and then logging in. When you fill out the online admission form,
you no longer need to send a copy of the application form to either the Admissions Office or the department. A $50.00 fee is collected by the Office of Admissions for the Graduate Admissions Application.
Note: Please keep your login credentials (username and password) from the Graduate Admissions Application in a safe place. You will need the same username and password
to access the Supplemental Department Admissions Application.
- Online Department Application

In addition to the University of Oregon Graduate Admissions Application, applicants must complete the
UO Psychology Supplemental Application. You must first complete the Online Graduate Admission Application to
access the supplemental application. It can take up to 2 business days to process university admissions applications. Please see the notes below for information
about what we ask for in the supplemental application.

- Graduate Admission Application
- Fill out the application form. Mail the top copy, along with a check for $50.00, to the Office of Admissions. (Paper
copy not necessary if you have filled out the online form.)
- Official Transcripts
- Send official transcripts from all institutions you attended as an undergraduate, and, if
applicable, from previous graduate schools.
- Official TOEFL Score (International Students Only)

The Test of English as a Foreign Language may be waived only if you have attended an English speaking University for three or more years.
- Financial Information Sheet (International Students Only)
- This is a required document for all international students. Note: A bank statement
is required. If you are granted full admission and have financial support, an I-20 form
will be issued. Contact the Office of Admissions (+1-541-346-3201) with questions.

- University Wide Graduate Admission Application
- One copy. This is a copy of the same form you sent to the Admissions Office. (Paper
copy not necessary if you have filled out an online form.)
- Department Application (PDF)
- The Department of Psychology recommends applicants fill out the online versions of the Graduate Admissions Application and the Department Supplemental Application. Only mail a paper copy
if you will not be filling out the online applications.
- GRE Scores

Official GRE results sent directly from ETS. We only require the general GRE, not the
subject test. To have your results sent to us, please use the institution code; 4846,
and the department code; 2016. The results must reach us by the December 1st deadline.
It can take up to 5 weeks for us to receive results, even for the computer test. Please plan accordingly.

- IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The following required materials are
collected electronically as part of the Online Supplemental Application. If you are mailing us your application
please follow the instructions contained in the paper application packet regarding these items.

- Three Letters of Reference
- Our online application requests contact information for each reference. References will receive an email from us
inviting them to fill out our online reference form. (For paper applications please use the reference forms included
in the paper application packet).
- Statement of Purpose
- A 2-4 page statement of purpose. This should (A) discuss your main research interests,
ideas, and questions; (B) explain how your research experience and professional work so far
informs your interest and future goals; and (C) state why you believe the University of Oregon
is a good place for you to continue your research (and, if applicable, clinical) training.

A writing sample is required. A recent class paper or thesis is preferred.

- We ask for course names and grades for your undergraduate work and cumulative GPA scores.
- Confirm Contact Information and Educational History
- You will have an opportunity to update the contact information and educational history you submitted with
the Online Graduate Admissions Application.

- Job history, teaching and research experience, awards and honors, theses, and publications.
